A quick look at the Contents page of Everything You Know About the Human Body is Wrong! is immediately intriguing: surely identical twins are identical, and don't fingernails continue to grow after we die? Even by page 6, where the first myth is outlined, my misconceptions are being challenged. Humans, the author tells us, did not evolve from apes. In fact, virtually every page has new surprises.

I liked the inclusion of acts that can be taken as encouragement eg: self-control and grit are as important as high scores; early disadvantage in development doesn't necessarily lead to lifelong limitations; if you're upset by nightmares, find a trusted adult to talk to; and finally, be curious - it will be the springboard to more myth-busting discoveries in the future.

Indeed, I liked every aspect of this book: its concept, the design, the illustrative style, the end papers, the bright, tactile cover, the choice of 'myths' to explore, and the inclusion of both glossary (with pronunciation tips) and index. A great book for the school library non-fiction shelves, but equally a super gift to keep as it will hold its interest for a long time and probably prompt further enquiry. Highly recommended.
