Have You Seen Elephant?

David Barrow has produced a beautifully illustrated book that will capture children's imaginations all over. A lovely story that imitates the age old game of hide and seek. In this story, we see Elephant attempt to hide in lots of the usual places while his friends looks for him. The obvious irony of Elephant's less than subtle hiding places makes for great interaction with the reader. My children both loved identifying the hiding spot. For those of you starting with inference, reading this book provides some good opportunity due to the author's use of animals that are usually unsuited to what they are going to do in this book. The illustrations are absolutely spectacular and if you want to use it to complement a literacy text, I think it would go along side Grace and Family by Mary Hoffman for Year 1 really well.
