Don't hug the pug is a simple book; baby likes to cuddle but is repeatedly told not to 'hug the pug'. Instead he is told he can hug various items that rhyme with pug but not the dog itself as it is stinky. The story ends with the adult in the story realising it's not the pug that smells, it is in fact the baby!

I found that this story lacks a real story or purpose, which is a shame as it could be charming and entertaining. That being said, younger children may find it amusing!

The story is short and simplistically written, making it good for young readers to have a go at decoding by themselves.
