Book celebrates health workers
11th May 20
Publisher Simon and Schuster Children's is to publish a tribute to the NHS this summer, Health Heroes: The People Who Took Care of the World, researched and written by Emily Sharratt, in support of NHS Charities Together.
The book will celebrate the people who have worked in all aspects of healthcare during the pandemic. It is the brainchild of publishing director Ali Dougal, and was inspired by her daughter clapping NHS workers every Thursday evening.
The book features stories from international and local surgeons, nurses, midwives, paramedics and doctors, and includes "famous names" and "unsung heroes".
Rachel Denwood, Simon and Schuster Children's MD, said, "We're so proud to be sharing these true stories of real people being amazing. It's been wonderful to see the team galvanise behind Health Heroes, a book that is going from concept to publication in just four months, and that will inform and inspire young readers as well as give back to NHS charities."
£1 from each sale of the book to NHS Charities Together. Funds raised will help improve the wellbeing of NHS staff, volunteers and patients, said the charity.
The book is aimed at readers age eight and above and features black and white illustrations from Juanita Londono. It will be published on 6th August.
