This book would provide a great starting point to inspire children who are in the early stages of learning about numbers whilst also proving thought provoking for children further into their mathematical education. It includes many different animals, from a snow leopard to a frog, comparing how many of them would have to leap, jump or bounce to equate to the same distance that a kangaroo can jump. Younger children could compare the amount of animals it uses as well as the difference in size/colour while older children could use it as a starting point for problem solving with different measurements. This is an interesting book with lots of mathematics learning involved! Picture Book / Ages 3+ / Reviewed by Lucy Newton, teacher

This is a great book for introducing comparing measurements. It tells you how far a kangaroo can jump and then compared this to other animals movements - lemurs swings, penguins porpoises - before telling you how many jumps it would take a kangaroo to circle the world. This book has brightly coloured pages and great illustrations of animals. Whilst the numbers themselves aren't completely accurate - they've been rounded for simplicity - the calculations are correct. This would be a good book for some cross curricular maths in schools, comparing measurements or just introducing bigger units of measurement.
