Synopsis

The first Paper & Hearts Society adventure. Join Tabby and The Paper & Hearts society gang in this joyful comfort read and celebration of books from Booktuber Lucy Powrie - all about what happens when you let your weird out! The perfect book for fans of Alice Oseman, Holly Smale and Zoella.

Tabby Brown is tired of trying to fit in. She doesn't want to go to parties - in fact, she would much rather snuggle up on the sofa with her favourite book.

It's like she hasn't found her people ...

Then Tabby joins a club that promises to celebrate books. What could go wrong? EVERYTHING - especially when making new friends brings out an AWKWARD BUZZING feeling all over her body.

But Olivia, Cassie, Henry and Ed have something that makes Tabby come back. Maybe it's the Austen-themed fancy-dress parties, or Ed's fluffy cat Mrs Simpkins, or could it be Henry himself ...

Can Tabby let her weird out AND live THE BEST BOOKISH LIFE POSSIBLE?

Reviews

Catherine

It might be the yellow cover (and the incessant rain outside) but Lucy Powrie's The Paper and Hearts Society felt like sunshine. It was an enjoyable read that held you by the hand and gently skipped with you through summer with the best friend, ever!

Tabby has come to stay with her Gran in Dorset, she's unsure of herself, questions her value and feels worthless - the scars of a toxic friendship she has left behind. Incidentally Tabby's Gran might just be my favourite fictional Gran now. With a love of Sylvia Plath, Tabby ventures to the local library to find a copy of The Bell Jar and chances upon an invitation to a Book Club. Therein begins her redemption as she is introduced to Olivia, Ed, Cassie and Henry; a bookish force to be reckoned with. However, as her confidence grows and she finds her feet in the group, Tabby's past threatens to wreck the idyll. She needs the strength to accept who she is and finally face the demons of her past.

The Paper and Hearts Society is a smorgasbord of gorgeous literary references and destinations. It contrasts positive friendships with the damage of a manipulative, toxic friendship and is a delightful read!
