This is a really useful book for topics about people who help and support us, and it gives a really useful glimpse into the kinds of things that grown-ups get up to. Given that children often wonder what they'll be doing as adults, this book is also a useful tool for showing them just how many jobs exist - and it is really well presented in a large format with blocks of vivid colour, making it ideal for sharing with groups. Each spread focuses on a different part of the world - for example, a high street (there are some Americanisms - 'Welcome downtown'), a farm, a school, a newsroom and at the hospital - but there are many more to choose from. Turn the page over, and you see what people do in that environment. It makes it easy to present and you can turn back to the main page to see each of these grown-ups busy at their job. I also liked that while it's very simple, it's something that would appeal to older children - many books around this topic are aimed at much younger children - although there's plenty for younger ones to explore in this, too. 64 pages / Ages 5+ / Reviewed by Alison Chase.
