About Author

Michael Lawrence, born in 1943, grew up on a paper mill beside the River Ouse in Huntingdon, before his family moved to a council house in Sudbury. His father was a musician playing for a time for the Mantovani Orchestra - so Lawrence grew up watching his father play with the orchestra on television on Sunday afternoons. He enjoyed Art and English at school and trained in Art before taking a job as a trainee graphic designer before working as a freelance photographer. His first children's book, When the Snow Falls, was published in 1994. He now lives with his partner in Devon and has two grown-up children. He writes for adults as well as children and when not writing, he likes to compose music, read non-fiction, and think about more ideas for books.
