ReadingZone Picture Book Competition 202116/01/2021 We're challenging children and young people aged 4-18 years to create a picture book on or around World Book Day, with the launch of the ReadingZone Picture Book Competition 2021! Author and illustrator Mini Grey (The Last Wolf, Traction Man) will judge this year's competition! Harry Potter Book Night moves to June14/01/2021 The annual Harry Potter Book Night, which usually takes place in February, will move to June this year, although publisher Bloomsbury will still provide free digital activities for teachers planning Harry Potter activities in February. ReadingZone Picture Book Competition 202114/01/2021 We're thrilled to announce that Mini Grey (The Last Wolf, Traction Man) will judge the ReadingZone Picture Book Competition 2021, where we challenge children and young people aged 4-18 years to create a picture book on or around World Book Day. Costa 2021 children's winner04/01/2021 Natasha Farrant has won the Costa Children's Book Award with her 12th book, Voyage of the Sparrowhawk, which the judges called 'pure heavenly escapism'. All the Costa category winners were announced this evening. Costa Book Awards shortlists announced24/11/2020 The Super Miraculous Journey of Freddie Yates by Jenny Pearson; Voyage of the Sparrowhawk by Natasha Farrant; Wranglestone by Darren Charlton and The Great Godden by Meg Rosoff have been shortlisted for the Costa Children's Book Award. Representation in Children's Books11/11/2020 Research into representation in children's books has found that there is still some way to go before books fully reflect society, with just 10% of children's books published in 2019 featuring characters of colour. Online storytimes10/11/2020 Publisher Andersen Press and the Seven Stories centre are collaborating on weekly digital storytimes to share on the centre's Facebook page, where stories will be read and available to share for free during the latest lockdown in England. |
