Luke is a comic-mad eleven-year old who shares a treehouse with his geeky older brother, Zack. Luke' s only mistake is to go for a wee right at the wrong time. While he' s gone, an alien gives his undeserving, never-read-a-comic-in-his-life brother superpowers and then tells him to save the universe. Luke is massively annoyed about this, but when Zack is kidnapped by his arch-nemesis, Luke and his friends have only five days to find him and save the world... My Brother Is a Superhero was the winner of the Waterstones Children's Book Prize 2016.

If you love mystery, unexpected turnings, and humorous sectioned stories, then this is the book for you! My Brother is a Superhero is a fab tale, about Luke, an ordinary boy with an ordinary life. One very usual - nothing exciting ever happens in my life - extremely boring evening, Luke and his older brother, Zack, are sitting in the tree house in their back garden, when suddenly, Luke declares that he needs a wee. Carefully climbing down the slightly wobbly ladder, he rushes indoors to the toilet. In the time period of the two minutes he was gone, Luke discovered, after he had had an mind - driftingly long lecture from Zack, that a blinding flash of light appeared whilst he was doing his homework. The rest went like...Bla bla bla, did homework, bla bla bla, sharpened pencil, bla bla bla, an alien gave me superpowers, bla bla bla.....wait WHAT! Why would a supposedly smart alien give superpowers to the most un observant , know nothing at all about superheros teenager on earth?! Now all that's left on my to do list is... teach my brother about comics and to help him save two universes from NEMESIS!

I enjoyed the main storyline of this story, as all the way through, it kept me on edge, never letting me put the book down. An amazing tale for all ages between 7 and 10 years old, and I can guarantee you will enjoy. If you loved My Brother is a Superhero, then watch out for the next two sequels; My Gym Teacher is an Alien Overlord and My Evil Twin is a Supervillian!
