With minimal words and expressive pictures, we can see from page 1 that Bear is a rather curmudgeonly creature while Mouse with his open smile and bright jumper is more fun-loving. He hangs picture, tries on costumes, drops food everywhere and even performs some taekwondo. Bear is long-suffering and unimpressed. But when all's said and done, and Mouse provides a party, it is quite nice to have a friend.

Short, sweet, with one wonderful 'O' rhyme running throughout (buffalo, pistachio, stereo, overflow), There's a Mouse in my House does a lot with a little. More than the sum of its parts, and a great prompt for discussion ('Do you think Bear's life would be better before or after Mouse arrived?'), There's a Mouse in my House is a warm, witty, wonderful addition to an Early Years bookshelf.

An interesting story with some lovely illustrations!

A polar bear finds that a mouse has moved into his house. The mouse unpacks his things, settles in, eats lots of food, dances loudly and even overflows the bath water! Suddenly, when they hear a knock at the door, the polar bear panics because many more mice wander in! Will he learn to live with the mice or continue to be a grumpy bear?

The story contains lots of rhyming words which gives it a great flow for story telling to one or more children. They always love spotting the rhyming words and guessing what it could be. The colourful pictures also add to the story, giving children a real sense of the emotions that the characters are feeling.
