What is the Moon? has been published to coincide with and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. Perfect for little minds with big questions, this book does very well in sharing scientific knowledge about the moon which is easy to understand and decipher. The lay out of the text is very child friendly and made even more appealing to young readers with the use of lift-the-flap pages. The flaps are used to answer the questions posed and the illustrations fully support the text by giving a pictorial representation of the information. Questions around what the moon is made of, the shapes of the moon and many more and covered and you feel that these have been taken from the mouths of children as you read through the book. I certainly feel that this text is a very useful resource for younger child settings and for any parent who finds their child posing questions about the moon. Usborne have once again come up trumps with an entertaining yet factual text which helps develop a child's understanding of the world in a seamless way. 12 pages / Ages 3+ / Reviewed by Kyle Matravers, teacher
